Hearing So Many Wrens Is Reminding Me Of The Mountains Growing Up
I don’t know why, but I keep hearing and noticing wrens around here this summer. Maybe they were common before, and I just didn’t really notice them. I’m also noticing that I’m hearing many catbirds singing, which I don’t remember noticing as much before.
The wrens though hare reminding me of going to Bonner’s with my grandparents. I spent many a warm or hot summer day outside playing there when I was growing up, and I don’t remember hearing many birds singing. I do remember hearing the wrens, though.
The afternoons up there were mostly quite wildlife wise. Before quads became popular, it was just quiet. I really learned to appreciate and enjoy the peacefulness of silence.
Come late in the afternoon, you’d hear more birds and the occasional chipmunk making its sounds. Evening would bring out whip poor wills and bob whites.
