It’s no secret that over the past few years I have gravitated toward more brutal and technical death metal as my personal preference. This particular CD has been on my to get list for quite a while. I’d say maybe a couple of years but for some reason unknown to me I’ve waited til just now to get it and that was a huge mistake. Sure I streamed it on YouTube and liked it but I really want to have a physical copy of stuff I really do enjoy.
Not to long ago, my thyroid medicine was off making me hypothyroid. That was fucking with my sleep schedule so I’d be dead tired all day then awake at night. I was listening to a lot of streamed music since I didn’t have my Fiio M11 yet and didn’t have a convenient way to listen to our ripped CDs. I often found myself listening to Death N Brutality or Core Of Destruction before that one was taken away.
I’ve been wanting to get a new portable music player. It needed to play FLACs, have expandable memory and Bluetooth. I settled on a Fiio M11 after my girlfriend’s Fiio M7 has worked so well for her.
So my old headphones that served me well for a couple of years but I got the cable caught under my chair and it made the one side flaky. I had really liked them other than the long cord though but in the grand scheme of things I guess too long would be better than too short.. I decided since I liked them I’d go with Sennheiser again and chose the Sennheiser HD 4.
It’s been a while since we visited Extremities in Lebanon but it’s always great to browse through their CDs and pick up a few. They have a great metal section. Yes Metal! We used to visit more often when it was still keystone and on this side of Lebanon but it’s not bad to get to. I think we need to go there then geocache out along 422. You don’t see that too often.
I’m beginning my search for a portable music player. It needs to have a fairly large screen that’s readable for me. It needs to have expandable memory and Bluetooth.
One of my favorite ways to discover new music now is to listen to something I like on YouTube then let it go to what ever is next. Sometimes something comes up that I like and sometimes it’s something I’ve not heard of before. For example I’ve recently discovered Delain and Epica this way. Apparently I’m on a symphonic metal kick now after a couple of years of mostly death metal.
A couple of weeks ago my girlfriend discovered Nightwish which I didn’t think she’s like be cause of Tarja’s opera singing. She generally dislikes female vocals. I liked them from what I downloaded way back in the early 2000s but never got around to actually picking anything up. Also around that time I discovered After forever and again didn’t have the funds to pick it up at that time. I really liked them both a lot from what I could hear in the shitty quality mp3s.
I have been looking off and on for the past few months for a portable music player since my Creative Zen hasn’t charged in quite a while. It needs to have a decently sized screen so that I’m able to see it. Molly’s Fiio m7 has text that’s just too small to see. It needs to support lossless formats. Particularly flac since I have everything ripped to that format so we can store the CDs away.
The album Obscura by Gorguts is just so heavy and addicting. It’s not an easy listen, but when it clicks, you keep discovering new levels.
Recently on a whim I ordered Dream Theater’s Black Clouds And Silver Linings and couldn’t be happier with that decision to take a chance. I think it’s my favorite Dream Theater album of all. Due to various reasons for the past 10 years we haven’t been really keeping up with them or any other music for that matter. Some of their other recent albums I just couldn’t get into that much.
She smiles like a child with flowers in her hair with blood on her hands Into the sun she stares Acid Bath might be one of my favorite bands of all time. Dax Rigg’s Darkness makes the music and I think the heavier music suits his voice better than the stuff that he does now. His more recent stuff is really good but I think Acid Bath is better for his voice.
Falling, falling from my oppression God where are you now Last year I rediscovered Dystopia. I’d heard stuff from Human=Garbage it on college radio stations back in the mid 90s but never picked up on who it was to search for it. (The internet makes finding stuff you hear so much easier these days) I recently heard it again on a streaming metal station online. It actually got me to hunt down a few other sludgy things I heard back then.
Ozzfest will be free this year according to what I read. I still wouldn’t go to see Ozzy anymore. I would have loved to have seen him about 10 years ago. Besides it would just be giving Sharon more money. Hopefully the fact that it’s free is a sign that the whole Ozzfest thing is failing and dying. . I’m sure they’ll have more mall core shit that will suck more than anything has sucked in the past.
