Frequently Used Excuses About Health And Fitness

I’ve been thinking quite a bit how so many people are so unhealthy. Many of them want to improve their health or even the way they look. I think most people would like to be healthier, even if they won’t admit it. I was one of them long ago.

I need to get in shape before going to the gym

Wrong. The gym is a great place to do that. The gym, of course, is optional. You could start with body weight stuff right in your house too, or do something like couch to 5k if running is something that you’d like to do.

I Don’t have time to get in shape

It doesn’t need to take a lot of time. Something is better than nothing. Quick, high intensity stuff takes less time than it does to watch a TV show. If you don’t make the time now, you’ll spend your time sitting on the couch later wishing you’d made the time.

I can’t afford to go to the gym

All you need is your body and a bit of space. There are plenty of places to find body weight programs and videos online for free. You can find equipment for free or cheap when people get tired of it sitting there not being used. Spring would probably be the best time for that, with the failed New Year’s resolutions.

We do Street Parking which is only $20 a month for the programming. We have more than enough equipment now after ten years of one thing at a time, but you only require a dumbbell to get started.

I’m too old to start

You’re never too old to start. I started when I was in my late 30s. I know others that started later.

I’m not as good as other people at the exercises

No, they won’t. Hell, most people are in their own little world and not even notice someone else is there. Those that do notice you will notice that you’re putting in the work. Sure, there might be an immature person there that’s an asshole, but they’re everywhere anyway. I started out boot camp as if I had two left feet and could barely make it through the warm-up.

I don’t want to get that big

More women think this than men, but it’s not something that you have to be worried about. It requires significant effort and more importantly eating to get big and even then, it depends on your genetics. The take home point is you’re not going to have getting too bulky happy without putting in the work and time to do so.
