Radio

I’ve always been deeply interested in Electronics. I went through multiple of those kits that radio shack would sell as a kid. I’d even save my money to buy them. My only problem with them was vision not being so good so I could only see a small part of the schematics at a time so it was hard to take all in or sometimes hard to differentiate the symbols.

Around that time I came across my dad’s old radio that picked up some short wave stuff and that was the coolest thing in the world to me to hear stuff from all over the world. When I was 12ish I wanted to get into ham radio. I loved playing with AM radios searching and seeing how far away I could pick stuff up from.

The one guy at the baseball field was into ham radio back then, and it was really interesting to me. I understood Morse code but could never learn it. Maybe I didn’t try hard enough, but I think it was at the time too visual for me. I wanted to get licensed in the worst way when I was a kid, but I was a kid and didn’t put the effort into it. I’ve thought about it from time to time since then but have never gone through with it.
