Squats Were Okay

I slept really well last night after getting great sleep the night before. I woke up feeling great and enjoyed my coffee while talking to Molly, then hopped on the computer after she went to work. It was nice this morning because I felt very refreshed.

Over the past few days, my knee has been bugging me a little. I think it’s a combination of tons of air squats in WODs the past several days and residual from when I got shoved into a bench walking down to the Broad Street Line in Philadelphia. That happened when we went to the game. It’s not that it hurts. I have just been feeling like if I could crack it, it would feel better. It twisted slightly when my shin stopped, but my body kept moving.

My knee felt okay when I did the lighter sets of squats so I took my time and worked my way up through the weights. I was moving really well beside feeling like I was favoring one side a little. Thankfully, it is the first week of the cycle and not that heavy of a weight for five. I stopped at five reps at the two hindered and forty-five pounds on this particular day. I am one hundred percent sure I was good for four to five more reps, but I decided I was going to stop at five for today no matter what.

I was happy with how the squats felt and went. With my knee bugging me, I wasn’t even sure if I’d get through the final sets. It would have been disappointing but okay if I hadn’t, but I felt no discomfort with the squats at all, so that was great.

I relaxed for a little while and played a bit of xbox but wanted to get a WOD ini this morning long before the eclipse. I looked for a workout to get in that was going to use my legs for something other than a bunch of squats. The one I found had other stuff but unweighted step-ups were what caught my attention. That workout was just what I was wanting for today.

The WOD went well. I go full speed on the step-ups. Instead, I thought of them then as more of a stretch and a chance to take them just a tiny bit slower. I focused more on good movement and full range of motion than speed, and that seemed to loosen my knee up a bit. I did the same with the rowing in the WOD. The pushups, on the other hand, I treated as a sprint. It was a good enough WOD for me on a day like today, and I felt much better after I was finished.
