Well That Smell Was A Truck's Tire Getting Ready To Explode

We were heading to Lancaster for some reason and kept smelling an odd slightly rubbery smell from when we got on 283. We kept wondering what it was until there was a loud explosion and the truck’s tire flew off in front of us. Luckily everyone driving was alert enough as they should be because that could have easily caused an accident..

I’ve often seen the tire pieces laying along the sides of highways but never actually saw a truck’s tire fail. I can remember seeing them all along I 81 when we went to the mountains but that highway gets ton of truck traffic. They probably use that to avoid the heavy traffic on I 95 near big cities when they’re traveling a long enough distance north or south.
