The Brickyard in Williamsport, PA

After planning on it a couple of times, something came up. Snow squalls in the forecast were the first reason for the cancellation. We finally made the trip up there yesterday. It was a decent ride up there. We didn’t even get into much traffic around Harrisburg.

Besides just seeing her, I wanted to take her out for lunch. I doubt she’s able to do that too often by herself. I asked her to pick a place, and she picked The Brickyard which was in downtown Williamsport. It was a nice surprise that we ended up there, as it smelled great walking past the building.

She wanted to eat outside, as she said she’s always wanted to when she walks past, so that’s what we did. The temperature was in the lower seventies with no wind. The only bad thing about eating out there was one lonely bee that kept coming around. She’s allergic, so I think she was worried about that.

While I browsed the menu, a few things caught my attention. I was thinking I wanted a burger because that’s what I smelled walking past the outside of the restaurant, and I thought about a few of them. The one that caught my attention, though, was the luau burger. It had pineapple on it, and I thought there was no way that it could be any good, but I just had to try it. To me, it was like a train wreck that I couldn’t look past. That’s what I ordered.

The food took a little while, but we were in no rush. I was surprised how long it took since the place didn’t seem busy, but we were in no rush and having a good time, so it was no big deal. When the burger came out, it was easily the best cooked burger I’ve had in a long time. The pineapple and other stuff really worked on it too. I didn’t know how the acid would be with the burger, but it was great.

The fries were outstanding on their own, too. They were cooked just right, and the seasoning was some of the best I’ve had in a long time. I know I would definitely love to go back there and try some other stuff. It seems like it’d be a fun place to hang out and drink a few adult beverages. I won’t do that in front of my mom.

I would love to explore downtown Williamsport more. It was walkable, and it seemed like a few cool places were around.
