Great Example Of Why I Care About My Fitness Last Night

Last night was a great example of what really drives me to work out regularly.

We went to the older granddaughters’ softball thing last evening. That turned into a train wreck with the weather and rain moving in. Half the kids got screwed out of their chance to do the hitting contest. Time should have been managed better with knowing the weather forecast, but I’m not here to bitch about that.

The younger granddaughters were there too. Of course, I had to push them on the swing. They also wanted a horsey ride. With the way, I’ve strengthened my core and shoulders, I can take them both at the same time. They also love when I do push-ups with them sitting on me. Not much is better than hearing them laugh. They’re in first grade and kindergarten.

The thing is, I am able to play with them in all sorts of way that most people can’t. I was running around with them on my back until the grass was getting a little too slippery. I was tired and would have rather just chilled at home watching the Phillies, but once I got there I had lots of fun playing with them.

It really reminded me of how much I truly do appreciate the fact that I am able to play with them. Most of the people I see living around us would be unable to play. They’re too fat and unhealthy, I know I’m not supposed to say that, but it is what it is.

Even if they’re capable of playing with the grandkids, most people are in such bad shape they’d be wrecked after a short period of time.

This was after I completed tomorrows WOD, which turned out to be surprisingly rough for me. I don’t know why, but my shoulders were just dragging. I even went super light with the devil presses to not really overdo it with the way my stomach had felt earlier in the week.

My hands were also feeling extra sensitive, especially on the pull-ups. They were even strict pull-ups. I felt some rawness with them during the rowing too, but that wasn’t as bad as the pull-ups were. It wasn’t the feeling that I sometimes get after high reps like it’s going to rip. It was a dry type of feeling. I’m sure I am still a little dehydrated from my nasty and longer lasting for me than normal stomach bug I had earlier in the week.
