Squats Felt Off This Morning

Last night, I slept pretty well. I woke up for a bit in the middle of the night, but was able to fall back to sleep. I also woke up earlier than yesterday, when I slept in until after 6:00 AM! That sleeping in yesterday was much needed since I had very little sleep the couple of nights before. I felt refreshed when I got up.

I got out of bed, went and said good morning to Molly, and drank some coffee. The coffee was good, but coffee is always good, except for that one we had last Friday. We couldn’t even drink it. It was flavored but tasted like pure artificial sugar, which Starbucks said they didn’t use.

It’s April Fools’ Day, so I thought maybe there would be something added to Goat Simulator. I wasn’t disappointed to see a new event on the map. It was easy enough to do, but it still made things interesting. My understanding is that they’re working on a paid update, which we will surely get.

It was a very dark and dreary morning, with rain falling at a steady rate, when I headed out into the garage to get my squats in for this week. It was dark enough that I needed to turn on the lights, which is rare with the large window in the garage. I took my time, working my way up in weight, and felt pretty good with my squats.

This morning’s back squats felt good until the second working set. The final set was the one plus AMRAP at two hundred and sixty-five pounds. At one time, it was heavy, but I know that it’s now a very manageable weight and is expected to get five or more reps. As soon as I did the first rep, something felt off for me this morning. There was no improvement with the second rep, so I stopped at that to play it safe. I think I was just off center on the bar but didn’t record it, so I don’t know for sure what was going on with it. I was a little disappointed with that last set, but these things happen every so often. Next time, I will get more! At least it wasn’t me fighting with it on a very heavy set.

I was feeling a little unsettled in the stomach, so I took it as a just-move sort of workout day. I did today’s shift and didn’t go too fast or heavy with the deadlifts. It was feeling like I needed to take a dump, but I was trying to avoid it because tree roots were in the pipe once again. It’s so frustrating because we don’t have a tree of our own out front. I guess at least the roots aren’t pushing the sidewalk up yet, like all the neighbors. This town has a terrible problem with that, and no one fixes it. There are some pushed up enough that my toes can hook underneath.

The workout went okay. It served its purpose and got my heart rate up some. It wasn’t really an intense one but it’s better than nothing.
