The Local News Sources Are Awful

Last week, I happened to come across an article from closer to Philly about the deadly fire that occurred. I was pleasantly surprised to see how long and detailed the article was, and it didn’t have ads to other articles about celebrity bullshit in the middle of it. It was just facts in a well-written article. I miss when the news was more like that.

The local news sources here are absolutely and purely awful. Their “article” might be a small paragraph or two, mainly saying that something happened. It will essentially say nothing else, and no more details are available. If there’s an opportunity, they may throw in a political spin. The local newspaper has turned into a steaming pile of, you know what. The so-called articles from these local sources don’t really do much more than repeat the headline.

I understand that they surely have a lower budget, because of the smaller market and all that, but at the same time, fewer things go on around here. Channel 8 on TV is one of the worst. They have reporters who have the stupid looks on their faces while giving as few details about the thing that occurred as possible.

Hell, Channel 8 spends more time on football Friday or nonsense like that than they do on things that actually matter. I don’t get what the big deal about high school football is around here. That and when they go over the old scams as if they’re new.

I guess another cause of the poor quality of reporting is that there is less completion. Philly had multiple TV stations competing, not to mention newspapers from the city and the suburbs. Not every article was of high quality, but for the most part, the reporting is and was so much more detailed than here in central PA.
