First Week Of 5/3/1 In The Books
I have been meaning to switch up my strength program for a while now. I feel like I made the progress I was going to make doing what I had been doing, I didn’t switch out of laziness.
Doing Jim Wendler’s 5/3/1 has been on the back of my mind now for quite a while. I read his original (I think) book on my kindle when we started Crossfit, and a lot of the ideas in the book made sense to me. I had wanted to add that in at home back around twenty fifteen, but for whatever reason I didn’t do it.
I found an app that will calculate the numbers for me, so I don’t have to make up a spreadsheet. The app has loads of templates so I found one I think I want to start with and will stick with that for a few cycles.
It’s going to be interesting to me to see how I am doing with it in six months to a year from now. I have to give it at least that long to see if it’s working for me.
I think this fall that maybe I will pick up Wendler’s Newest book for my Kindle, or at least the latest one for the Kindle. Unfortunately, the newest one has no legal electronic copies available. It’s his right to do that, and I can understand why, but tiny book print just won’t work for me.
I started out with a four day a week template with widow maker sets because it looked fun and interesting to me. I enjoy the mental and physical challenge of the twenty rep sets. This week I did squats on Monday, Bench Tuesday, Deadlift on Thursday and Presses today. It felt good so far.
