Tough Bike Interval Then The Vault WOD This Evening

Last night, I slept poorly as always after drinking. We went with a friend, so we were there later too, and that only exasperated the poor sleep. I didn’t lay awake that long like I normally do, but I had high stress all night with the high heart rate until I got up this morning.

While I was drinking my coffee, I realized that the sewer’s been snaked, and I felt better, so I wanted to push myself with a WOD this morning.

We got the grocery store done, which was painful as always. At least, I missed most of it while I was getting my hair cut. Not only were they blocking aisles with the big carts they have to use for stocking and being oblivious to customers, but they also had one of the trays out beside the cart. Why settle for blocking half the aisle when you can block the whole thing, right? I don’t understand why they can’t do most of this while they’re closed. The Mount Joy Giant is like the Walmart of Mount Joy, considering how dumpy it is and the characters that shop there.

When we got home, I wanted to get a WOD in. I wanted to do today’s SHIFT WOD which was just intervals of movement. I wanted to use it to push myself on the assault bike, though. Pushing myself is precisely what I did too! The workout had my heart rate through the roof. As they do so often anymore, the score was overly complicated. I am so glad I don’t care, even a little bit about scores.

It was one of those workouts that left me feeling pretty crappy for a couple of hours afterward, but in a good way. It’s a good way to know I hit the intensity I wanted. I’ve not pushed as hard for the past week or so because I’ve been sick.

We went to Harvey’s for supper. We smelled it this morning with the Easterly winds. I had some brisket tot special, and it was good. It was different. It was just the right size; it filled me up without eating too much or feeling overly full. Harvey’s is a place that we’re fortunate to have nearby, and they have beer and stuff now too!

We watched the Street Parking Vault announcement, and I decided I wanted to do it, but in my own way. I did the SHIFT version but switched out the hang dumbbell cleans to using Molly’s strongman sandbag to do hang to shoulder. Her sandbag is only sixty-two pounds, but it was harder than I expected with no handles or anything. I liked that bit of a twist to it to make it different. I don’t have the space inside to use the barbell, and Moll wanted to do the workout with me, so that made the pace even tighter. It got my heart rate up again! I finally remembered to put Alestorm on for the music, since they’re using pirates for the WOD’s names this year.

It reminded me of 2020 when I did most of the vault WODs with a buzz like I had last night.

Music for today was Alestorm
