Deadlifts Then A WOD This Morning

Last night I had a little trouble falling asleep. I slept well once I got to sleep, but it took a little while. When I was downstairs watching baseball, I was half dozing off, but I guess my brain woke up when I went upstairs. To make me feel less rested, I woke up about 4:00 AM this morning and was just awake.

I felt tired from the time I woke up, yet my brain was awake, so going back to sleep wasn’t going to happen. At least the coffee was good. When is coffee not good, though? My head wasn’t feeling quite as stuffed this morning and actually opened up a little more as I was drinking my coffee and browsing the web.

Sometime around 8:30 or so, I grabbed the mail. I figured I would get changed and get my deadlifts done. Although it was not sunny at that time, the garage was pretty mild compared to yesterday. The low last night was only in the 50s. My hip feels a little weak, so I didn’t have the highest of hopes, but I still have to put in the work.

I got started with the hundred and fifty pounds, and that sight felt pretty good this morning. It’s super light, but still, I felt like I was moving well. As I worked my way up in weight through the progressively heavier sets, that felt even better. I took my time with it and enjoyed my lifting session.

The final set was the one plus AMRAP for today. Two hundred and seventy-five pounds is what was programmed. This set felt surprisingly great today for as tired as I was feeling. Today I stopped at three reps. Even though I settled for three reps, I think on another day, I had at least a couple of more reps in me.

I was putting my weights away, which I really didn’t feel like doing. I might add that I started thinking that it would be a good idea to go ahead and get a WOD in early this morning. This morning I wanted to find a simple enough workout to do, and I wanted something that would be fairly short. I went upstairs and took a brief look at the Street Parking website because it is a pretty bad, bloated and slow website on mobile.

I decided to do tomorrow’s SHIFT WOD. That was just push-ups instead of bench presses and lower reps of them. I want to do the regular version sometime, but not today. I swapped out the box jumps for step-ups because I don’t need to do high reps of jumping. It was a quick WOD and got my heart up a good amount, but it wasn’t long enough or intense enough to really get to my tiredness too much. Maybe if I feel up to it later, I will get on the bike or rower and do some intervals, but it doesn’t seem likely right now.

Music for today was Alice In Chains
