Sometimes a certain weight will always be a mental block for me. One example of that is my old max from when we went to the gym. Today in my 5/3/1 1+ day I did it for a triple.
It was such a nice day outside with the high in the mid to upper seventies, we just had to take the sled out for a WOD. There was one that looked particularly brutal that Iβve been wanting to do, so I did that one today.
I wouldnβt consider it a terrible thing, but more often than not these days my heart rate stays lower during WODs. My resting heart rate is also down near 50. Today I managed to get my heart rate max into the 180s.
The hurricane moved back out over the Atlantic after wrecking Florida. The moisture and clouds from it are working their way in here today. We got one of those outstanding Hurricane sunsets out of it.
Todayβs WOD was one that I didnβt feel like Iβd get a lot out of, so I did one from long ago. I have a bunch of the older ones saved in my favorites, so I can do them on days like today. I went way heavier and PRed timewise on it to boot.
I am starting my third cycle of 5/3/1 today and the first day up is squat day. Iβve been feeling really good with it. It was time to change things up.
We had a nice fall sunrise this morning.
Last year, my arm/ shoulder was fucked. I found that a lot of the dumbbell stuff made it feel worse, so I took a break. I started back up recently and am already benching the fifties with no discomfort.
It felt great to take the barbell outside for a WOD this afternoon. Iβve been neglecting using that because weβve been really into the sled work and the sandbag stuff. I decided that itβd be fun to do a sled plus power clean WOD.
It has been a long time coming, but I finally switched my strength program to 5/3/1. I read the first book years ago and was going to try it out then when we were still going to Crossfit, but didnβt.
